What's the value of youth/citizen media in conflict resolution/prevention? Hibr and the Innovation Fair for Conflict Zones...

Submitted by eic on Sun, 03/07/2010 - 23:19

One of our core interests at Hibr, and a reason behind the founding of Hibr, involves looking at how innovation and entrepreneurship can be helpful in conflict/post-conflict environments and developing countries to help move things in a more positive direction. Information, exchange of ideas, transparency, coverage of critical issues, critical thinking, creative/collaborative problem solving, and openness are all important aspects in that, and are key to why we think alternative media is so important.

Innovation Fair for Conflict Zones... submit YOUR idea by March 7.

Submitted by eic on Sun, 02/28/2010 - 23:23

Here is a great opportunity to showcase innovation coming out of the WANA (West Asia/North Africa) Region ... the World Bank's upcoming "Innovation Fair: Moving Beyond Conflict", April 12-15, 2010 (in Cape Town, South Africa). Applications are due March 7, but the sooner you get them in the better! Projects will be voted on by site users, and that public support will be one of the criteria used to determine which projects will get funded! Get your project(s) up early, and try and spread the word to get people to go visit the site and vote!

اليوم الرابع من مؤتمر كوبنهاغن

Submitted by mrahal on Sat, 12/12/2009 - 12:59

4SITE Forum: Creative Ideas by Innovative Minds (part 2)

Submitted by Assaad on Mon, 11/23/2009 - 15:35

By Assaad Thebian

When Mahmoud Abu-Wardeh (zeedna.com) and Rama Chakaki (baraka.ae) asked the participants of the small panel discussion to separate a yellow sticky note and draw down what they think resembles them now, and on the right part, what they will be in the future, no one expected to have the same results. But most of the participants drew themselves (shape of a man or a point) that is lost between the currents not knowing what to choose, and then drew a cozy atmosphere surrounded with family and friends along with a decent job and the “fairy house” which each of them dreamed off. Mohammad explained that this is what he expected, eager people who have much to give but do not know what they really want to do. This was one important reason to conduct the 4SITE Forum in order to help young enthusiastic young people learn more about the chances and discover new ways to be more innovative.
