Lebanon Laïque Pride in Paris & dancing for Civic Rights

Sunday 11 a.m. Place du Trocadéro, around 35-40 people. And a lot of Lebanese flags!

The timing probably explains the number... But 35 people gathered in Paris this morning to support Civic Rights in Lebanon.

We did not march, the police gave us the authorization to gather for an hour at Trocadero. Instead, we danced the "Dabkeh".

"Creating a face for a secular Lebanon", this is also why we all went there this morning. Few short speeches on the importance of Civic Rights, and a few young Lebanese told their stories in the universities of Lebanon's deep-rooted sectarian system... "How I discovered what Islam is"... "When I discovered I was Christian"... "How university made me more open and tolerant" etc. I bet the same stories were being told, this morning, the same time, in all cities where the LebLaïque Pride was organized.

We came because we wanted to support the march in Lebanon. Yes.

But it was also a good pretext for us to gather and dance some good Dabkeh! It always has a different taste when you live abroad.

Dancing for Civic Rights. That was a cool way of spending a Sunday morning!
